Bistra Slivovitz Serbian Plum Brandy

Bistra Slivovitz (Serbian Plum Brandy) is a plum-based rakija from Serbia made from selected ripe plums, where the fermentation includes the pits so that compounds like amygdalin from the stones contribute almond-like character. It is double-distilled, matured in large oak barrels (for example up to 5 000 L) for aromatic completion, then stored until bottling — the oak aging helps give it a mellow, golden tone and smooth texture.  On the nose it presents rich ripe plum fragrance with hints of almond and vanilla; on the palate you’ll find lively fruit, soft sweetness, subtle vanilla/wood notes and a clean, polished finish.  Traditionally served neat (slightly chilled if preferred) in a tulip or small glass so you can appreciate the aroma and the fruit character.
